Direct Object pronouns: lo, li, la, le, ne ..... if are before passato prossimo... make words agree
e.g. vedo la bambina
-> la vedo

mi -> me
ti -> you
lo -> it/him
li -> them
la -> it, her
le -> them
ci -> us
vi -> y'all

anytime "di" + article is used, "ne" will replace.*

therfore... ho comprato dei fiori
-----> ne ho comprati

SO! If it's an article, use a lo/li/la/le D.O. pronound.
If there's a "di" or "da", use "ne".

Ho mangiato le pizze.
-> Le ho mangiate.

- In Italy, a bar is more of a meeting place where one would get espresso at around 11am during his/her break. Drinking alcohol is only done when centered around food.

* -ista words can be masculine OR feminie, just change the pronoun *

il cassiera - cashier

- Sitting at a tavolino is very expensive. Coffee can cost up to 5 times the normal price sitting down vs. just getting it at the bar and standing or going home.

el caffe Hag - a brand name coffee, like Folger's or Sanka
decaffeinato - elephant (not really. it's decaffinated)

*pronounciation note* One "s" makes a "z" sound, while two "s"s make an "ess" sound

cioccolata calda - hot chocolate

sayings/verbs
io ho una fame da lupi - I'm starving.
- this is an idomatic term, like "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" in English. Literally this reads "I have the hunger of wolves."
scherzare - to be kidding
bisognare - to be necessary
ti va? - do you feel like it?
mi va - I feel like...
mi dica - "please tell me" "speak up"

it can also be used with other people...

visitare is used when visiting a city, king or president

now say those both 10 times fast.

practice using "ne"
-Io ho un cane, ma lui ne ha tre.
-Lei non ne ha.
-Ho trentacinque anni. but...
more commonly used is: Ne ho tretacinque.

*when verb is conjugated, "ne" goes in front

The subject commands the verb; it initiates the action.
The object receives the action of the verb.

^helping verb ^past participle

main helpers = essere and avere

conjugation is as follows:
-are = -ato ..... e.g. andare -> andato
-ere = -uto ..... e.g. ripetere -> repetuto *ususally -ere verbs are irregular
-ire = -ito ..... e.g. uscire -> uscito

when using essere, helping verb matches subject
so... essere + uscire would be...
